Botox Use in the Lower Face

Botox has traditionally mainly been used in the upper face to treat frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet around the eyes. These three areas make up the vast majority of botox treatments and have a long history of safety and effectiveness.

However, there are some cosmetic uses of botox in the mid and lower face that are less well known.

Bunny Lines. These lines occur on the side of the nose from scrunching the nose. In some people they become more prominent after having botox treatment to the frown area. These can be softened with a small dose of botox.

Lower Eyelids. Lower eyelids are difficult to treat as too much botox can cause change to the shape of the lid and a watery eye. In younger clients (usually less than 40), bunching of the lower eyelid when smiling can be improved with a small amount of botox. Also, a small amount of botox can also soften crepey skin in the lower eyelid. Results are subtle as only small doses can be used and the client must be assessed for suitability.

Gummy Smile. A gummy smile refers to a smile where excess upper gum is showing. A small amount of botox near the nose can improve this be weakening the central lip elevator muscles.

Marionette Lines. These lines occur at the outer corners of the mouth and tend to cause the mouth to turn downwards. They are usually treated with dermal fillers. However, botox treatment in the outer mouth depressor muscles can give a pleasing result. This can also augment the results of fillers.

Dimply chin. Excessive muscle activity in the chin area can give an orange skin type appearance. This appearance can be softened by injecting a small amount of botox.

Masseter Muscles. The strong chewing muscles at the angle of the jaw below the ears can also be treated with botox. Treating these can create a more feminine, less square shaped jaw as well as reducing teeth grinding and, in some cases, tinnitus (ringing in ears).

Nefertiti Lift. This procedure refers to injecting botox along the angle of the jaw and in the neck bands. This can create a subtle lifting of the neck. Patient assessment and appropriate selection is important to optimise outcomes.

Results of lower face treatments often last longer than those in the upper face. It is not unusual to achieve a result for six months or more for the Nefertiti Lift and masseter muscle treatment. However, these treatments have a higher rate of complications. Facial asymmetry and difficulty talking and swallowing are risks of treatment. Therefore, it is important that you choose an experienced injector and discuss the expected benefits and risks prior to treatment.

Whether you call it your bum or your butt every woman I know wants to know how to get a firm sexy rear that can fit easily into the tightest jean or trousers yet still looks great on the beach. The beauty about training this part of the body is that all you really need are simple bum exercises using your body weight that you can do anywhere so there is no excuse if you don't go to a gym.

There are lots of great exercises but I prefer the ones where you are standing up as they work the bum and thighs harder and are more challenging so better for burning calories. So with that in mind here are 4 of my favourite bum exercises.

Wide stance squat - Place your legs in a wide stance then lower your body and push your hips back while keeping your glutes contracted. By taking a wide stance you will find it more easy to push your hips back so you can maintain better form and work the back of your legs more as you squat.

Split squat. For this bum exercise place one foot forward and one backwards. The back leg should be resting on the ball of your foot. Keep your upper body straight then lower the hips straight down so the back knee is just off the floor. Keep the buttock tight then push through the front foot to come back up. You will feel most of the tension in the front glute and thigh.

Reverse lunge - This is a little more dynamic than the first two as it involves movement. Basically you step backward then drop your hips straight down keeping your torso erect. At the bottom of the movement contract your bum then step back up. This one will start to get the heart racing.

Step-Up on a Bench- This exercise is actually more challenging than it looks especially when using any form of weights. To make your bum work harder the trick is to stand further away from the bench. Most people stand too close and end up putting the emphasis on the front of the thigh as you perform the step up. So to get maximum effect in your butt start away from the bench then as you step upwards drive your weight through the heel. As you return take your time and use the back of the thigh to control your body. I like to keep the front foot on the bench for the duration of the set to maintain tension.

These 4 bum exercises are the main ones you will use in any workout. What changes is that you can do different variations of each one to make it harder and you progress. Also for added difficulty use dumbbells, medicine balls or any other free-weight. I would recommend starting off with 8-12 reps of each exercise then for more intensity start to do them in a circuit type fashion with no rest between each exercise. Whatever you choose you are on the way to a firmer and sexier rear.

Then, pour a dollop of shampoo in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together, and then apply the shampoo to your scalp. Take note that you should put the shampoo on your scalp and not at the ends of your hair, as the shampoo would dry your hair's ends and cause it to weaken and split. Also, do not mix your hair all over your head as you shampoo because it will get all tangled up. After this, rinse the shampoo off.


More often than not, we need to shampoo our hair for a second time. The purpose of the first shampoo is to clean the oil and dirt off; the second shampoo is supposed to let the shampoo treat our hair. So, repeat the process, but let the shampoo sit on for around a couple of minutes. Rinse the hair completely after this.


To get the excess water off your hair, just squeeze the water out. Do not pull or tug at the hair because the hair is at its most delicate when it is soaked. When the excess water is out, apply a dollop of conditioner - mane event - and apply it along the hairline, the nape and the ends of the hair. Pile your hair then inside a shower cap and let the conditioner stay there for around ten minutes. And then, rinse it off completely.

Tips to Keep Your Nails Beautiful

Nails are made of keratin an object in the body. Nails grow at an average rate of 0.01 centimeters a day. Caring for nails is equally important as taking care and pampering all the other body parts. Nails keep on growing so one need to regularly clean them and keep them in shape. Smoking damages nails very badly so one should avoid smoking or should cut off the intake to keep oneself healthy and to keep the nails healthy. Women do wear long artificial nails matching with their outfits to make their fingers look different and they do different art work on the nails to make them appear unique by using gels, colors, sequins on them.



Ensure that half of your diet is made up of fresh fruits and raw vegetables. This will supple your nails with vitamins, minerals and enzymes.

Then, add just a swipe of mascara to your lower lashes for a bit of extra length, but be careful to avoid any globs or bunching.



Finish your eyes with a single coat of mascara on the upper lashes. Add slightly more mascara to the outer edges of your lashes for a more dramatic appearance.



For a grown-up and glamorous effect, choose deep dark colors that strike a dramatic note, such as this vampish purple. First, file nails into a long oval shape and apply a base coat. Give nails at least two coats of main polish, allowing them to dry thoroughly in between. Finish with a top coat.

Make a paste of dried and powdered orange peels and milk. Apply on the face and leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash it with warm water.

Prepare an anti-wrinkle lotion with the following ingredients, mix one tbsp apricot oil, 2tbsp almond oil and warm it slightly. When it cools down, add one tbsp of lemon juice, a few drops of grycerine and 2 tbsp of rose water, mix this thoroughly and store in a glass jar. Apply this home made lotion regularly on face and neck.
