Determine Your Beauty With An Ideal Look

by Dave Stringham

Physical beauty is determined by the values of each society. In our western culture during the late 1890's for example, the large breasted woman with the small waist was the ideal. In the "flapper" era of the 1920's, women wanted slim bodies and very small breasts. In the past, an individual's body build has been determined for the most part by achieving the look they want through diet and exercise alone. Today women are able to alter the shapes of their bodies. Women with small, underdeveloped or asymmetrical breasts will like this safe, effective, surgical procedure designed to improve the contour of a woman's body by implanting either saline or silicone implants beneath the breast or chest wall muscles. For breast enhancement surgery in always check with your plastic surgeon and find one who suits your needs.

Prior to breast enhancement surgery, a complete medical history is taken in order to evaluate your general health. A thorough examination of the breasts is also done to document your geography and determine the most effective surgical plan. Your plastic surgeon will describes the procedure that would be best, what results might realistically be expected, and the possible risks and complications you should know.

Photographs will be taken as well as mammograms or x-rays if medical history necessitates. Preoperative instructions often include the elimination of certain drugs which contain aspirin in order to minimize the possibility of excess bleeding. Antibiotics and other medications designed to prevent infection will be prescribed for a few days prior to surgery, as well as a special medical cleansing solution. Homeopathic regimens and basic lab work will be prescribed as well.

Your breast augmentation is performed in our private Outpatient Ambulatory Surgical Facility under general anesthesia.

The breasts are carefully marked to indicate where incisions are to be made. One of the techniques most frequently used is an incision made in the breast fold or around the lower portion of the areola (the dark pink area circling the nipple). Another location frequently used is in the armpit as well as the navel. Breast tissue is raised to create a pocket either under the breast tissue or beneath the chest wall muscle. An implant is inserted into the pocket.

Occasionally different sizes of implants are used to correct breast asymmetry. In other cases of breast asymmetry fold position may need adjustment, or a breast lift may be recommended.

After the breast implant is securely in place, dissolvable sutures are used to close the incision. The breast augmentation takes from 45 minutes to one hour to complete, depending upon the procedure and extent of the surgery. You are usually in the recovery area for 45 minutes and discharged to go home with your caretaker.

How to Choose the Best Plastic Surgeon for Breast Augmentation

When it comes to your breast augmentation, you should trust no one but the most qualified of all plastic surgeons. The plastic surgeon you choose will have a tremendous impact on both the safety and success of your surgery. If you run into complications during your surgery, an experienced surgeon has the skills to ensure a safe and beautiful outcome.

-Plastic surgeons who have earned a solid reputation in their field have earned the privilege of performing plastic surgery at accredited hospitals, or they house their own Honolulu plastic surgery suites that are fully accredited, class “C” surgical facilities by the AAASF. Is this the case for the one you are considering?

-Find out how many breast augmentations the plastic surgeon has done and for how many years has he been performing them.

-How many breast implants does the doctor perform on an annual basis?

-Request that the plastic surgeon show you some before and after photographs of patients he has performed breast surgery on. Pay close attention to the photos because no two surgeries are likely to be the exact same – and you want to ensure that the plastic surgeon’s aesthetics are in line with your own.

Evaluate Your Comfort Level

Finally, the most important part of selecting the best Honolulu plastic surgeon is how comfortable you feel as you sit and talk with the plastic surgeon. It is critical that you feel comfortable and at ease. If you don’t, then you should not put your body in the hands of the surgeon.

Do you feel comfortable asking questions of the surgeon? This is a key point. It is also important that you feel comfortable with the staff at the plastic surgery office. You need to know that all of your concerns will be addressed in a timely manner and not be brushed aside as unimportant.

When you take time to meet plastic surgeons and ask questions, you can choose the best Honolulu plastic surgeon for your breast augmentation surgery – giving you beautiful results that will last a lifetime.

Body Contouring Can Rejuvenate Your Youthful Look

By Dave Stringham

Liposuction can remove localized fat deposits from almost any area of the body. Many plastic surgeons use an "ultrasonic" technique, during which sound waves liquefy fat cells before liposuction begins. This allows the elimination of more tissue, especially in difficult to treat areas such as "love handles" and the upper abdomen. Ultrasound breaks up fibrous tissue in the fat, and gives smoother results than with other types of liposuction.

By injecting saline, anesthetic solution and epinephrine during liposuction ("tumescent" liposuction), bruising is minimized. Incisions for liposuction are small and easily hidden.

Also called a "tummy tuck", abdominoplasty can remove excess skin and fat, stretch marks, and scars on the lower abdomen. It corrects unwanted changes that are left after weight loss or childbirth. The procedure also tightens the abdominal muscles and decreases the waistline.

Abdominoplasty does not involve entering the abdomen itself, only more superficial areas of the body. The incisions for this procedure extend from just below the pubic line to the belly button.

A total body lift rejuvenates the skin and removes fat from the entire abdomen, thighs and buttocks. A body lift fixes abdominal skin excess, hanging buttocks and sagging thighs. The best candidates for this procedure have hanging skin but only modest amounts of fat. Patients are usually in their late thirties to fifties, or have lost a lot of weight. The incision for a body lift is hidden below the bikini line.

Breast augmentation more commonly known as a boob job, can be used to increase the size of small breasts, or in cases of lost breast volume or "droopiness" that occurs after breast-feeding or weight loss. Most implants used by board certified plastic surgeons are made of saline solution, so there is no danger if any leakage occurs. The implants are generally smooth because textured implants can cause rippling of the skin. To provide an ideal result, this procedure can be combined with a breast lift in some patients with significant "drooping".

Nipple sensation and breast-feeding are usually not effected by augmentation. The most common side effect is the formation of a "capsule" of scar tissue around the implant, which makes the implant feel hard. Many plastic surgeons minimize this by placing the implant under the muscle, as well as by using meticulous techniques to limit bleeding and the chance of infection. Incisions are hidden in the armpit or under the nipple.

Breast lifts elevate the breast and nipple, creating a more youthful appearance. The number and type of incisions depends on the extent of surgery needed by each patient. A plastic surgeon's goal is to decrease the overall number of incisions, basing their decisions on the amount of correction required. Implants are often combined with a breast lift to minimize the need for incisions.
