Beauty Tips - How to Give Yourself a Makeover

By Marcus Ryan

With makeovers all the rage these days - often including plastic surgery as part of the picture - it's easy to think that you can do your own beauty makeover too. The best news is that it's not necessary to get plastic surgery. You can do your own "natural makeover".

What do we mean by "natural makeover"? Quite simply, we mean making some changes and doing some things that can help to make you look and feel younger. In the end, it's like a mini self-made makeover.

To give yourself a health and beauty makeover, you can: exercise, improve your diet, get a new hairstyle, use a good antiaging cream, an essential beauty supply, get some new makeup techniques and stay with current fashion. Let's look at each of these in detail.

It's good to exercise when you want to lose weight, but if you are trying to look younger, exercise serves a useful purpose there too. When you exercise, you tone and lengthen your muscles. You also gain muscle definition. You can benefit from fat loss in a myriad of ways - your health can improve, you can look younger when you are thinner and you feel better, which helps your skin to look younger.

Improve your diet

Eat better and your skin and body will thank you. When you eat well, your skin looks better, your eyes are brighter, you feel better and you have a youthfulness about you that you just can't get when you'll filling your body with junk.

Improving your diet isn't as difficult as you might think. Simply improve the quantity and quality of the fruits and vegetables you eat, reduce your portion sizes and get plenty of antioxidants, and you'll see improvement.

Get a new hairstyle

This is one of the best things you can do to immediately make yourself look younger. Getting a new hairstyle that's in keeping with what's current and stylish, and learning how to care for it properly, can do wonders for your look.

Notice we said "learning how to care for it properly". This means that often we get a new hairstyle but use the same styling tools and techniques we used in the past. But keeping current with the popular (and young) tools, techniques and products will help you keep your hair looking current and you looking young.

Antiaging cream

To keep your skin young looking and to add that element of "makeover", use a good quality antiaging cream. A good antiaging cream (also known as a wrinkle cream) can help your skin to stay wrinkle free, as well as soft and supple and enhance its natural beauty.

Find an antiaging cream that works almost instantly but also provides some lasting antiaging benefit (such as antioxidants). These creams will do the best to provide you with an immediate as well as a long-term benefit.

New makeup and hair care

As you get older, change your makeup techniques. You might find that a lighter (or heavier) hand is best, or you might find that the colors which flattered you in the past aren't the ones that flatter you now.

In any event, change your makeup as you age. Along with your hairstyle, this is one thing you can do that's quick, costs nothing, and can make a huge difference in your looks.

Change your fashion style

Finally, don't forget your sense of fashion. That is, don't forget to change fashion, and your personal sense of style, to keep with the times. This doesn't mean you have to start adding every trendy item out today into your wardrobe, but you can add one current item a season to keep your wardrobe timely.

To get a beauty "makeover" that's natural, consider some of our suggestions. Whether you do one or all of them, you are sure to lose a few years along the way.

Want to look younger? Then use the []wrinkle skin creme that work in minutes. Which wrinkle cream gives results as promised? See Marcus Ryan's review site and find out which anti-aging wrinkle cream works, as well as get the []free beauty samples to have you look younger.

Eyelid Surgery - Why a Laser Eye Lift is Better Than Eye Cream

By Brooke Seckel
The Beauty Makeover

Modern eyelid surgery can rejuvenate the eyelids and remove tired eyes, bags under eyes, eye hoods, dark circles and eye wrinkles with much less down time and fewer complications than ever before. New laser eyelid surgery is faster with less bruising and no change in eyelid shape after surgery. Expecting an eye cream to remove eye bags is like putting an aspirin on top of your head to cure a headache.

What is also new is that the laser is used for eyelid surgery and a visible incision on the lower eyelid is no longer required. The new technique is called transconjunctival blepharoplasty meaning the incision for the lower eyelid surgery is made on the inside of the eyelid-thus no visible scar and no change in eyelid shape.

What Can Modern Laser Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty Achieve?

• Remove Eye Hoods and Tired Eyes- As our eyes age loose skin develops on the upper eyelid and the tissue falls down over the eye lashes. This is called Dermatochalasis, but is commonly called eye hoods or tired eyes. New laser blepharoplasty uses the laser to remove the loose skin and reveals a bright, refreshed awake and youthful look to the eyes.

• Remove Bags under Eyes and Puffy Eyes- Eye bags and puffy eyes are corrected through a tiny laser incision made on the inside of the eyelid through the pink tissue called the conjunctiva-thus the term transconjunctival blepharoplasty. The benefits of the transconjunctival approach to eyelid surgery are:

1. No visible incision on the eyelid

2. No change in eyelid shape-traditional blepharoplasty through an external incision weakens the lower eyelid. The eyelid turns down at the outside corner creating a sad eyed or hound dog look. The modern transconjunctival eyelid surgery does not damage eyelid support so the beautiful lower eyelid shape is not changed

• Remove Dark Circles under the Eyes-The new transconjunctival laser blepharoplasty can also be used to remove dark circles under the eyes. A structure called the arcus marginalis which holds or tethers the lower eyelid skin to the bone of the eye socket and creates the dark circle under the eye, is released. Protruding eyelid fat which is causing the bag or puff under the eye is removed and a small piece of the fat is placed back into the eye to plump the dark circle. This new eyelid surgery technique has revolutionized surgery to remove dark circles under the eyes.

• Remove Eyelid Wrinkles and Crow's Feet- New fractional laser resurfacing techniques can smooth eyelid wrinkles and crow's feet with much gentler lasers and a third of the down time of traditional laser resurfacing techniques. Botox™ is used to quiet the muscles that cause crow's feet and eyelid wrinkles after the laser has smoothed the skin.

What are the Benefits of Tissue Conservation Blepharoplasty Surgery?

• No Hollow eyes after eyelid surgery-Older excisional blepharoplasty techniques removed skin and fat and often left the eyes looking hollow and turned down at the corners. The new transconjunctival tissue sparing approach to blepharoplasty has avoided this problem.

• No change in eyelid shape-Older blepharoplasty methods that removed skin shortened the eyelid and weakened eyelid support. The result was a sad eyed look.

• Plumping the depressed cheek-As we age our cheek near the lower eyelid sinks in because fat and skin sag down lower in the cheek. By repositioning eyelid fat into this depression instead of throwing the fat away, the lower eyelid and upper cheek are plumped and rejuvenated.

How Long Is Recovery?

The only recovery is the time it takes for swelling and bruising to go away usually a week to ten days although many patients do not have bruising when the laser is used. The laser seals blood vessels as surgery is done thus there is less bruising with the laser.

It is important to rest with your head elevated the first few days. This helps get rid of swelling. No heavy lifting or exercise the first week as these activities could result in post operative bleeding.

Most people are ready for eye makeup by day four, and many people are comfortable in public wearing sunglasses after a day or two.

Who Should I Consult for Eyelid Rejuvenation?

I recommend a board certified plastic surgeon that specializes in laser surgery and eyelid rejuvenation. The laser transconjunctival blepharoplasty with tissue preservation and fat grafting or repositioning is a fairly new procedure and not many plastic surgeons are familiar with this technique.

Even fewer plastic surgeons are using the laser technique.

You will have to do your homework. Search for laser transconjunctival blepharoplasty and fat grafting or fat repositioning.

Try to consult at least two surgeons and as to see photos of their results with the newer technique. Ask how many of these operations they have done and evaluate their response.

Modern transconjunctival and laser blepharoplasty techniques with tissue conservation are a vast improvement over techniques that were available just two to three years ago. Beautiful eyelid rejuvenation with quick recovery and normal eyelid shape post operatively is possible today. Bags under eyes, puffy eyes, eye hoods, eyelid wrinkles and crow's feet can be removed with a minimal down time and very little evidence that you have had surgery.

Do your homework and find a surgeon who is up to date on the latest techniques. []See pictures of results of laser transconjunctival blepharoplasty. []Learn more about the arcus marginalis release and tissue sparing approach to eyelid rejuvenation.

Facial Rejuvenation Without Surgery - Non Surgical Treatment

by Dave Stringham
The Beauty Makeover
The Problem : As we age, the layer of fat under our facial skin begins to thin. This causes the face to look deflated and drawn when compared to the full roundness of a younger face. Especially around the eyes, hollows and contour changes leave the face looking older and more tired.

Volume loss is one of the earliest signs of aging. It starts to occur in the mid 30's and continues to progress. Until recently, this component of facial aging was overlooked. We are now realizing what a major contribution volume makes to looking younger, healthier and more energetic.

The Treatment : One of the old dictums in plastic surgery is "replace like with like." When it comes to facial volume loss, micro fat transfer is the treatment of choice. A gentle liposuction technique is used to prepare the fat for transfer. Then the fat is then injected in the desired portion of the face, using a micro injection technique.

This approach allows extremely small parcels of fat to be placed into multiple layers of the face. This maximizes potential survival and allows for optimal aesthetic outcome. In my practice this is done most commonly around the hollows and grooves of the lower eyelid region and cheeks. Another common area is around the mouth and jawline. It can also be done throughout the entire face giving the entire face a natural rejuvenation.

Anesthesia : The procedure is most commonly performed under local anesthesia with a light oral sedation. Patients go home the same day with little discomfort and essentially no downtime. Bruising is variable.
Expected Outcomes: Generally, 40-60% of the transferred fat persists permanently. Although, the long-term efficacy of transferred fat has been documented in numerous studies results are extremely technique dependent. I encourage all my prospective patients to speak to past patients and ask them what their experience has been with the long-term results.

Post operative Course: Other than a very small incision at the fat harvesting site, no incisions are made in the face. The most common post procedure issues are swelling and bruising. This is often minimal and often resolves in a few days. Patients usually return to normal activity within a week. The more regions of the face that are treated, the more time it takes for the swelling to settle.

Sculptra is used to treat the same problems as mentioned above. It is not a true filler. It is a unique product that is actually works by stimulating collagen production in the deep layers of the skin. The results are similar to fat transfer hence the term "fat in a bottle." The treatments are performed in the office setting. It takes 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The changes occur slowly, leaving friends and loved ones wondering what is responsible for this positive change. Some facial plastic surgeons use Scultpra as part of our Liquid Facelift technique.

This is often recommended for patients who are very thin and don't have enough body fat to allow for successful fat transfer. Or for patients who simply choose this approach over fat transfer once they've heard the pro's and con's for each treatment.

These are true fillers. They consist of Hyaluronic Acid, a natural product aboundent in our body. Unlike fat transfer and sculptra, which are often used to treat broad areas of facial volume loss, these products are used to target specific discrete areas.

For example, the nasolabial folds (cheek folds), lips, and corners of the mouth are common areas for treatment. More advanced uses of these products are for treatment of the hollows and grooves around the eyes. The results are excellent and last between 6-9 months, depending on the treatment site.

Radiesse consists of Calcium Hydroxyappetite. This office-based fille is used to treat deep folds, grooves and hollows. The most common uses are to treat the nasolabial folds and to add cheek volume. The results last 6-9 months.

Create A Soft, Natural Look With The Right Set Of Make Up Brushes

by Dominic Donaldson
The Beauty Makeover

It really is quite amazing the difference good make up brushes can make to the application of your make up. While they are essential for applying lip colour, eye shadow, face powder or blusher, many women refrain from making the additional purchases in favour of using the compact brushes or sponges that come with many make up products. While the small investment does of course involve a little extra expense, the improved, groomed finish they create will certainly be noticed.

A ladies choice of make-up is much like her choice of perfume; it's very personal to her individual taste. For some women, getting ready in the morning involves a quick smothering of moisturising cream and away they go, while others will take the time to carefully apply a full face of foundation, powder, blusher, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara and lipstick. The brands she buys, the shades she wears and the quantity she chooses to apply will vary dramatically from woman to woman.

The same make-up can look very different on two different ladies. This is partly down to the fact that we all have different facial features but is also largely the result of different application techniques. To create the most polished groomed finish, make up should be applied using the correct brushes, for the correct products.

One of the most popular make up brushes are the largest variety, designed for applying loose or pressed face powder. With lots of bristles, the idea of the dome brush is to create a natural look by providing a dusting of powder over the whole face. Most compact powders come with an application sponge however these can tend to create a more solid finish and therefore for the most natural look, it is best to apply using makeup brushes.

If you like to add a little bronzer or blusher to your cheeks for a natural glow, you will need to invest in a tapered or angle brush. Angle brushes are great for blending the colour on your skin so you don't end up with a solid line of colour. These tend to come with a shorter handle to powder brushes for a more solid grip. The key is to create a soft, natural flush of colour to the cheeks, without looking like you actually have any makeup on. Make up brushes can help create this barely-there look.

For adding a dusting of colour to your eyes, you will also need to invest in some eye-shadow brushes. These come in a variety of sizes, from larger fluffy brushes for applying eye-shadow to smaller more precise brushes for creating a smudged eye-shadow or eye liner effect. Blending brushes often take an angled form, for more precise application.

Many women also like to add a splash of colour to their lips either in the form of a lipstick or lip-gloss. This is often applied directly from the stick or brush that holds the colour however like applying powder with a sponge, this can lead to too much colour being applied, resulting in a heavy look. Applying lip colour with a lip brush helps create a much softer, most natural look and will allow you to apply it more accurately. These make up brushes are much smaller than powder or eye shadow brushes, for a more precise application.

While most make up does come with its own form of application, be it a sponge or in the form of its packaging, investing in a set of make up brushes for the products you wear, is guaranteed to give you a more impressive finish. Make up isn't cheap so there's little point in spending your hard earned money on expensive products if it's not then applied correctly.

The New Face Lift: Quick, Easy And Effective

by Dave Stringham
Beauty Makeover

People are living longer healthier lives. Facial aging can be emotionally difficult. It has manifestations on our professional and social lives.

Patients often express that they no longer can recognize the face in the mirror. Or they feel younger than they look. Unfortunately, eventually, they begin to feel as old as they look and this is when their quality of life is affected.

The great news is we live in a time that many safe and effective things can be done to turn back the hands of time. In this section you will find a variety of non surgical and surgical approaches designed to give you control of the aging process and once again leave you looking as young as you feel!

Do you look in the mirror and wonder "Wow, when did my jaw line and neck start to sag so much? And where did these wrinkles come from?" Do you ask yourself, "I feel 30 why do I look 60?" If so, you are not alone.

A majority of patients who come see facial plastic surgeon have asked themselves the same questions and feel exactly the same way. With time patients notice they start feeling older because of the way their face has aged. Aging of the lower face and neck is one of the first changes we notice. The firm jaw line and smooth chiseled neck of youth get replaced by sagging jowls and redundant neck skin and fat. The good news is, of all the age-related changes, these are the ones that are the easiest to restore.

Many people are afraid of the facelift because of the downtime, risks, and potential of looking too pulled or unnatural. Many of these considerations apply to traditional and outdated face-lifts. The new generation face-lift is less invasive and refined and allows patients to recover quickly, while achieving excellent natural and lasting results. These procedures can be done without general anesthesia, further decreasing the cost and the risk.

As a result of these qualities, these procedures have had extremely high levels of satisfaction. If you have started to notice the affects of aging, please rest assured that the procedures available today are nothing less than the latest and greatest. Aging is inevitable, yet most of us wish we could slow down or reverse the physical changes that occur as a result of this process. The number one reason patients seek facial rejuvenation procedures is that they simply feel younger than they look.

Dave Stringham is the President of an online resource for plastic surgery. He writes about facial rejuvenation, facelift surgery, and facial plastic surgeons.
