The Beauty Makeover
It really is quite amazing the difference good make up brushes can make to the application of your make up. While they are essential for applying lip colour, eye shadow, face powder or blusher, many women refrain from making the additional purchases in favour of using the compact brushes or sponges that come with many make up products. While the small investment does of course involve a little extra expense, the improved, groomed finish they create will certainly be noticed.
A ladies choice of make-up is much like her choice of perfume; it's very personal to her individual taste. For some women, getting ready in the morning involves a quick smothering of moisturising cream and away they go, while others will take the time to carefully apply a full face of foundation, powder, blusher, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara and lipstick. The brands she buys, the shades she wears and the quantity she chooses to apply will vary dramatically from woman to woman.
The same make-up can look very different on two different ladies. This is partly down to the fact that we all have different facial features but is also largely the result of different application techniques. To create the most polished groomed finish, make up should be applied using the correct brushes, for the correct products.
One of the most popular make up brushes are the largest variety, designed for applying loose or pressed face powder. With lots of bristles, the idea of the dome brush is to create a natural look by providing a dusting of powder over the whole face. Most compact powders come with an application sponge however these can tend to create a more solid finish and therefore for the most natural look, it is best to apply using makeup brushes.
If you like to add a little bronzer or blusher to your cheeks for a natural glow, you will need to invest in a tapered or angle brush. Angle brushes are great for blending the colour on your skin so you don't end up with a solid line of colour. These tend to come with a shorter handle to powder brushes for a more solid grip. The key is to create a soft, natural flush of colour to the cheeks, without looking like you actually have any makeup on. Make up brushes can help create this barely-there look.
For adding a dusting of colour to your eyes, you will also need to invest in some eye-shadow brushes. These come in a variety of sizes, from larger fluffy brushes for applying eye-shadow to smaller more precise brushes for creating a smudged eye-shadow or eye liner effect. Blending brushes often take an angled form, for more precise application.
Many women also like to add a splash of colour to their lips either in the form of a lipstick or lip-gloss. This is often applied directly from the stick or brush that holds the colour however like applying powder with a sponge, this can lead to too much colour being applied, resulting in a heavy look. Applying lip colour with a lip brush helps create a much softer, most natural look and will allow you to apply it more accurately. These make up brushes are much smaller than powder or eye shadow brushes, for a more precise application.
While most make up does come with its own form of application, be it a sponge or in the form of its packaging, investing in a set of make up brushes for the products you wear, is guaranteed to give you a more impressive finish. Make up isn't cheap so there's little point in spending your hard earned money on expensive products if it's not then applied correctly.
